Prior to 1984,chip art or silicon doodlesserved a practical purpose.if a competitorproduced a similar chip,and examinationshowed it contained the same doodles,thiswas used as evidence that the design wascopied and not independently derived.however, after a 1984,there was a revisionof the US COPYRIGHT law,which made all chipautomatically copyrighted,making chip artuseless.
